Who we are

We are a small group of Burmese physicians both inside Burma and abroad who understand the ever growing needs of the Burmese health care system. We realize help must come from both the local Burmese physicians on the ground as well as from Burmese physicians abroad who can help to achieve our goals in a variety of ways.

How we work

Currently, four clinics are operating in the outlying townships of Yangon and serve an average of 10-15 people per 3 hour work day.

These neighborhoods are very poor with little access to primary health care.

Ongoing training occurs in the form of:

  • Discussion sessions moderated, or lectures given, by a senior physician at least once a month.
  • Provision of educational materials.
  • Close direct supervision by a volunteer foreign trained Burmese physician several times a year.
  • Distribution of allowances to attend courses for family practitioners conducted by the MMA (Myanmar Medical Association)
Orphanage Kids

The numbers of patients and need for more clinics continues to grow. The current cost of one clinic is approximately $2,500 per year.

This money supports the salaries of physicians, office staff, office rental, medical equipment, medication, basic testing and continuing training.

Primary Clinical Focus

We aim to address common debilitating and potentially deadly conditions such as diarrhea, respiratory illnesses, gynecological problems and malnutrition.

Who does the work

With the current state of health care and political structure these tasks must be achieved by Burmese physicians with the ongoing support of foreign trained physicians and donors. Secondary to low wages, doctors in the region are struggling from a lack of financial resources. Our contributions help to offset these problems and allow the doctors to continue their essential work.
